Wind vane
Definition
Plate metal which, while turning around a vertical axis fixed at the top of a building, indicates the orientation of the wind.
Description
Direction of wind is determined by wind vane and when one says that the wind is north, that wants to always say that the wind comes from North and thus moves towards the South. This direction is is specified by letters which point out the cardinal points (N for North, S for South, E for Is, O for the West (sometimes W for the english-speaking). For the intermediate directions the letters can be associated, thus NO indicates that the wind comes from the North-West.
