 Nerd

Definition

Attached to its computer like the tail of the dog, the nerd (word appeared in the years 1950) is set on data processing which forgets that one could live at one time without this instrument.

Description

The difference between Geek and the nerd is very difficult to seize. The translations of these two elements by a bilingual dictionary give respectively "damaged" and "cretin". The nerd would be thus a cretin who spends his days to be programmed, to optimize his PC, which becomes its Tamagoschi about it, by forgetting the surrounding social life. Besides it knows all the definitions of the dicodunet.com (they are its only words of vocabulary), has buttons on the face, uses alternative software to assume its pubescent spirit of rebellion hidden. The nerd however vaguely tries to be hung up again with normal people. Unfortunately, it is once again a blow in water: While trying by proselytism to show that the free software is better, that would be needed that one have all Linux-Debian + OpenOffice.org + the Mozilla continuation +..., the nerd embourbe in explanations grooved on the software patents. With the difference of typically data-processing Geek, the nerd can also indicate, by extension, of the extremely intelligent beings, terribly specialized in certain fields at the point to be able to speak only about that. Associated the figure of the first of class, with the fatty and boutonneux hair, the nerd has a stereotypic representation very strongly anchored in the imaginary one of each one. The attitude to be adopted when a nerd is met: Opiner of the head, by making pretence include/understand what he says. ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY not to ask to explain a misunderstood term!
