 IPv6

Definition

Version 6 of protocol Internet IPV6 is the successor of the current version (IPV4).

Description

This new generation of protocol Internet was defined by the IETF (the Internet Engineering Task Force), an abstract group whose members contribute to the evolution of technologies of Internet. The protocol most largely used today is always the definite IPV4 there is more than 20 years. The purpose of IPV6 is to solve the limits of the current version in term of a number of IP addresses available (rising with a little more than 4 billion). Indeed, the number of connected machines quickly has Internet not ceasing a croitre, the number of IP addresses which can be allotted becomes insufficient. IP addresses IPV4 are coded on 32 bits while those IPV6 are coded on 128 bits (what will make it possible to obtain a beach of 3,4x10e38 IP addresses).
